Penetration tests are a widespread and practical method for the indirect assessment of the mechanical properties of soils. They consist of driving a conical tip into the ground.

The results of penetration tests allow the geotechnical parameters of the soil to be derived; these parameters are essential for subsequent calculations such as bearing capacity assessment.

Tecnostudio owns a Pagani TG63-200 tracked penetrometer capable of performing all the types of penetration test described above.

Metodologia

Penetration tests are carried out in compliance with the Italian Technical Standards for Construction (NTC 2018) and the relevant European standards: EN ISO 22476-1 for CPT/CPTU (Cone Penetration Test), EN ISO 22476-2 for dynamic tests (DPSH, DPL) and EN ISO 22476-3 for the SPT (Standard Penetration Test). Data processing follows the correlations recommended by AGI for the determination of geotechnical parameters.

The equipment used, including the Pagani TG63-200 tracked penetrometer, is regularly calibrated according to the manufacturer's specifications and applicable standards. Results are returned through penetrometer diagrams and reports compliant with regulatory prescriptions, with interpretation of the soil's mechanical parameters (friction angle, cohesion, oedometric modulus).
