Our firm has its own geotechnical laboratory, authorised by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (List of authorised laboratories) to perform tests on soils and on site under Italian Presidential Decree 380/2001 and Circular 7618/STC. The laboratory is equipped with all the instruments needed for a complete soil analysis.
The Soil Laboratory performs the full range of geotechnical classification and characterisation tests on soils: grain-size analysis by sieving and sedimentation, determination of Atterberg limits (liquid limit, plastic limit, plasticity index), oedometer compression tests for settlement assessment, direct-shear and triaxial tests (UU, CU, CD) for the determination of strength parameters, constant-head and falling-head permeability tests, and determination of natural water content and unit weight. All tests are performed in accordance with EN ISO 17892 standards and certified under our quality system.
Metodologia
Laboratory tests are carried out in compliance with the applicable technical standards (Italian Presidential Decree 380/2001, Circular 7618/STC) at our laboratory authorised by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. Procedures follow EN ISO 17892 standards for the classification and geotechnical characterisation of soils, and AGI recommendations for the execution and interpretation of tests.
Analyses include identification tests (grain size in accordance with EN ISO 17892-4, Atterberg limits in accordance with EN ISO 17892-12), mechanical tests (oedometer compression EN ISO 17892-5, direct shear EN ISO 17892-10, triaxial compression EN ISO 17892-8) and permeability tests. In situ tests include plate load tests (EN ISO 22476) and membrane densimeter tests. Each result is certified and traceable in accordance with the laboratory's quality system procedures.
